Today was spent in Nashville at the travel clinic getting shots. What fun! I am so being sarcastic here. This trip frustrated me for several reasons. First of all, I'm not happy that we had to drive over 2 hours to find a clinic that could give us the shots we need along with a prescription for malaria meds. Yes, we live in a small town. But give me a break, you'd think we're the only people here that have ever traveled out of the country. Oh wait a minute - maybe we are.
Secondly, it hurts. Plus the decision of what shots to get or not to get has really stressed me out! That's why we've waited to literally the last minute. You see, I was one of those individuals that way back in 1976 received the swine flu vaccine and then developed Guillain-Barre syndrome. Seriously, I was three years old and still have a vivid memory of being temporarily paralyzed and not being able to walk. So, that limits the vaccines I can get. In the end, I received Tetanus, Hep A, and Meningitis (menomune not menactra). Charles got Td, Hep A and Menactra plus H1N1. And we both chose Doxycycline for our malaria med. But the good news - we've had no adverse reactions besides a sore arm!
And the last Ouch was to my pocketbook. Over $500!! Need I say more?
