Ethiopian Heroes

I LOVE the special report: CNN Heroes. These stories of ordinary people who do amazingly wonderful things to help others are beyond inspiring!

Last year, I loved the story of Yohannes Gebregeorgis and how he brought free libraries to the people and children of Ethiopia with his Ethiopia Reads program.

And this year you can read about Lidia Schaefer, a D.C. manicurist that worked for 10 years and then even sold her home to build a school in her native Ethiopian village. Please check it out here: http://www.cnn.com/2009/LIVING/06/11/cnnheroes.lidia.schaefer/index.html.

I want to be more like Yohannes and Lidia. They both saw a need and met it. Simply. Selflessly.

Suppose a brother or sister has no clothes or food. Suppose one of you says to them, "Go I hope everything turns out fine for you. Keep warm. Eat well." And you do nothing about what they really need. Then what good have you done? It is the same with faith. If it doesn't cause us to do something, it's dead.
